The Wheel of the Year turns once more, and sadly we’ve reached the final workshop in our journey through the seasons of Herbal Living.  With our Spring, Summer and Autumn classes all selling out, this is your last opportunity to join Kristine for a full day of hands-on herbal learning. Over the course of the day, you’ll learn how to make a handful of different herbal preparations, working with the plants and rhythms of the season as your guide.

Plans are already afoot for 2027, but we haven’t yet decided exactly what shape Kristine’s hands-on classes will take. So, if you’ve been meaning to join us, this really is your final chance to experience this particular full-day immersion in Herbal Living.

Come and spend a day learning, making and connecting with the wonderful world of herbs — and celebrating the turning of the Wheel of the Year along the way.

Each of the days so far have become a really memorable day of learning, connection and shared discovery.  Together, we’ve leisurely wandered through woods, fields and waysides, learning to recognise the healing plants growing beneath our feet.  We’ve explored the quiet alchemy of herbs, shared stories around the making tables, crafted seasonal remedies from well-used recipes, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of creating alongside one another.

With each workshop, a new community has taken root. It's been a joy to watch people leave with not only some very practical knowledge and handmade creations, but with a deeper connection to our local land and the confidence to see the everyday plants around them in a completely new light.

So... we are delighted, for the final time in 2026,  to welcome back Kristine de Block, The Crafty Herbalist, who is an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced medical herbalist – and very fortunately for us happens to also live locally!

With co-founder of Where Inspiration Blooms (and nature-based seasonal crafter) Jules Cossins, as her eager apprentice, we cordially invite you to explore the fascinating world of herbal living and learn how to root your health practices in seasonal, local plants.

Welcome to…

THE FOUR SEASONS OF HERBAL LIVING:

A YEAR WITH THE CRAFTY HERBALIST AT WHERE INSPIRATION BLOOMS

Each season tells its own story - of growth, rest, renewal, and return. Through the year, we invite you to meet the plants that rise, flower, fruit, and fade with the changing light, learning how to work with them in ways that are practical, healing, and deeply rooted in traditional wisdom.

Over the course of 4 x full-day workshops we hope to inspire you to learn the core skills of a confident home herbalist - blending hands-on experience with seasonal awareness and local plant knowledge. Each day stands alone, but together they form a circle of learning that follows the natural rhythm of the year, helping you feel more attuned to both the land and your own wellbeing.  Just coming to a single class, we promise, will give you enough knowledge to confidently use plants more in your own home.

WINTER - The Season of Stillness

In the quiet of winter, when the days are short and the fires burn low, we turn to the kitchen for warmth and renewal. This final gathering of the year celebrates rest, reflection, and the small rituals that bring light to the dark. We’ll make syrups, hot chocolate, and immune tonics with warming spices and medicinal mushrooms. We’ll craft herbal gifts and festive blends - bath salts, pomanders, and aromatic drinks inspired by Yule and the return of the sun. A day of togetherness, scent, and story - a chance to reconnect with yourself, the land, and the powerful magic that winter holds.

We will provide you with everything you need for the day, but we do ask that you bring with you a packed lunch.

About Kristine De Block, BSc Hons (Medical Herbalist)

“I’ve been walking the herbal path for almost five decades now, and it still fills me with the same wonder it did when I first began. I’m a medical herbalist, teacher, and founder of The Crafty Herbalist Academy, where I help others learn the old skills of making, tasting, and understanding plant medicine - and rediscover a sense of belonging through the seasons.

“My roots are in Flanders, where my grandmother first taught me the language of plants. I still remember the stories, the scents, and the home remedies she made from the medicinal plants in her garden. Later, formal study in herbal medicine deepened that love and shaped it into a lifelong practice. Since then, I’ve built a dispensary, taught hundreds of students, and worked with countless patients - but what moves me most is seeing people realise that they can do this too: that herbal medicine isn’t distant or mysterious, but something we can all weave into daily life.

“My teaching blends tradition and science, but at its heart it’s about relationship - with the land, the plants, and ourselves. Whether I’m teaching in my kitchen, my clinic, or under an open sky, my aim is always the same: to pass on what I’ve learned, to keep the old knowledge alive, and to remind people that the plants are still here, waiting for us to notice them and use their gifts.

“I’m a qualified and insured medical herbalist, a full member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, an Ambassador and Corporate Member of the UK Herb Society, and an Advanced Junior Herbalist Club Leader. I’m also a regular contributor to international publications such as Botanical Anthology, and my first book is due to see the light in 2027.”

At Where Inspiration Blooms, we’re big fans of delicious cake! In this class, Jules (with the help of her very good at baking husband, Alistair) will be baking us not one, but 2 delicious and unusual herbal based cakes.

You can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee, with dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference.

For our one-day classes, please bring a packed lunch, and our teas, coffees, and sweet treats will be available throughout the day. If you have any allergies, do let us know when you book so we can ensure everyone has a worry-free and enjoyable experience.

Please note that we will only be able to run this class/course if we have a minimum of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than 2 weeks before it is due to start and we will of course, offer you a full refund.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact Jules via her email jules@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk

Thank you so much for booking onto one of our workshops — we’re really looking forward to welcoming you and hope you find your class to be a space where your inspiration can really bloom 😉
