It’s hard to believe that this will be our 9th year of Christmas wreath making – a workshop that has become such a lovely part of the Where Inspiration Blooms Christmas tradition.
If you’ve joined us before, we’re so looking forward to welcoming you back. And if this is your first time, we promise you’re in for a wonderfully festive few hours of making, choosing, chatting and creating.
This year, we’re putting even more emphasis on something that has always been at the heart of our wreath workshops - using what’s around us locally and giving once loved things a second life.
Throughout the year, we’ve been gathering and preparing foliage from on and around The Penn Estate and the gorgeous Chilterns countryside surrounding The Pavilion, including evergreens, ivy and other seasonal greenery. We’ve also been collecting, foraging and sourcing drying flowers, seed heads, berries and other natural treasures – many of which have been carefully dried and stored by us especially for your wreaths.
And then there are the embellishments…
We’ll once again have a whole room at The Pavilion dedicated to choosing those all-important finishing touches. But rather than buying everything brand new, we’ve spent the year hunting out lovely things in charity shops and giving them another chance to shine. You might find vintage ribbons, old decorations, little ceramic pieces, felted treasures, unusual ornaments or something completely unexpected.
It also means that every workshop will be slightly different. We never quite know what treasures we’ll discover between now and December, so there’ll be new things to choose from throughout the weekend – making this just as exciting for those of you who have been wreath making with us before.
This year we will also be asking you to choose between making a fully compostable wreath on one of our handmade willow hoops, or a more traditional wreath on a wire frame. Then it’s simply a case of choosing your favourite combination of local foliage, foraged finds, dried flowers, seed heads and carefully sourced embellishments and creating something that feels completely your own.
Everything you need will be provided, although please bring your own secateurs if you have them. If you don’t, don’t worry – just let us know and we’ll have a pair ready for you.
And of course, The Pavilion will be looking suitably festive too, with Christmas music, twinkly decorations and a very warm welcome. We’ll have a selection of festive hot and cold drinks waiting for you, along with some homemade Christmas treats from the lovely Susie at Angelic Cakes in Amersham. Please do let us know if you have any food intolerances or allergies as we would be really happy to cater for you.
It’s a lovely way to spend a few hours with friends, family or simply by yourself – and if you’d like to bring along a bottle of something bubbly to make it extra festive, just let us know and we’ll make sure you have everything you need to settle in and enjoy yourselves.
As you know we’re at The Pavilion in Penn Street, Amersham, just across the road from the lovely Hit or Miss pub, so you can always carry on the festivities with a drink or meal afterwards.
Want to make a wreath together as a group?
We also offer a very limited amount of private wreath making workshops for friends, families and festive work gatherings. If you’d like to arrange your own session, just drop Jules a note at jules@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk and we’ll be very happy to help.
We absolutely love this workshop, partly because it marks the beginning of Christmas for us, but mostly because of the wonderful mix of familiar faces returning year after year and people discovering us for the first time.
So, whether you’ve made a wreath with us eight times already or this is your very first one, we can’t wait to welcome you to The Pavilion, pour you something festive and see what you create.
If you have any questions at all, please contact us on julesandcaroline@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk.
