According to Mr Google, last year in the UK, we used an estimated 227,000 miles of wrapping paper at Christmas.  That's the equivalent of 108 million rolls -  roughly 4 per household.
 
Now we know that we can't take on the whole 108 million rolls BUT if we can help inspire a few people to ditch the paper this year and instead turn to more sustainable options then we'll be happy.
 
In this 2 hour festive workshop you will be re-using those fabric bags that usually end up in the boot of the car (for last minute food shops) or at the back of the hallway cupboard. You will be shown how to appliqué Christmas fabric onto your bags (either by hand or by using the sewing machine) turning them into gorgeous Christmas gift bags that you can use again and again.
 
We will have a stash of cloth bags for you to use, as well as a selection of festive fabrics but you are very welcome to bring your own too.  Everyone will have the opportunity to make at least 3 different draw string Christmas bags.
 
This class will be lead by Sam from The Sewing Loft.  Sam has been running a series of workshops with us since the start of term all of which are teaching basic sewing skills.  In this class we will have a few sewing machines set up in the room, which you are welcome to use.  You can bring your own if you like or you can hand sew your bags, whatever suits you.  Please bring a basic sewing kit including sewing needles, thread and fabric scissors if you have them. We will have equipment for you to use as well.
 
This class will only be able to go ahead if we have a minimum number of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead, we will contact you no less than a week before the class is due to take place, and full refunds will be issued.
