Kate Rebecca Leach of Essoldo Design began teaching her stunning abstract watercolour and collage classes with us in the Spring of 2025 and has sold out all of her classes ever since. If you haven’t had a chance to come on one of her classes yet, then we totally recommend that you do – her classes are so much fun! Kate will be teaching 3 classes with us between now and the end of the year. 23rd October is Abstract Landscapes, November 20th is Autumn Leaves & Botanicals and we end the year on 18th December with Winter Abstracts.
Join us for this wonderfully creative day exploring the colours, shapes and textures of autumn through watercolour, pattern and botanical illustration.
Using Kate’s beautiful botanical artwork as inspiration, you’ll learn how to paint loose, organic watercolour shapes and transform them into your own decorative autumn-inspired composition.
Kate will guide you through a variety of watercolour techniques, showing you how to create leaves, seed heads, flowers and other botanical details, before adding layers of intricate ink patterns and delicate touches of metallic.
You’ll have the freedom to experiment with your own colour palette and composition, taking inspiration from the autumn landscape as well as Kate’s distinctive collection of botanical designs and patterns. The result will be a completely unique piece of artwork, full of colour, texture and beautiful detail.
This is a lovely opportunity to slow down and get creative with the abundance of inspiration that autumn has to offer without any pressure or art experience.
Kate will provide all the materials that you need but you are also very welcome to bring your own favourite paints or brushes.
Kate Rebecca Leach is an artist and illustrator based in Hertfordshire. Her original artwork and high quality Giclée prints feature creative watercolour techniques and embellished metallic details. Kate founded her business, Essoldo Design, in August 2020 and has sold pieces to over 35 countries across the globe and has successfully licensed her work in the UK, Europe and the USA. Her bestselling book, Creative Abstract Watercolour, was published in Spring 2024 and is now available in 7 languages, and her second, Creative Abstract Mixed Media was published in October 2025.

In this class, you can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee. We have dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference, and our homemade cakes are always sourced from good local bakers. We also make sure those who need gluten-free options aren’t left out.
