Kate Rebecca Leach of Essoldo Design began teaching her stunning abstract watercolour and collage classes with us in the Spring of 2025 and has sold out all of her classes ever since. If you haven’t had a chance to come on one of her classes yet, then we totally recommend that you do – her classes are so much fun! Kate will be teaching 3 classes with us between now and the end of the year. 23rd October is Abstract Landscapes, November 20th is Autumn Leaves & Botanicals and we end the year on 18th December with Winter Abstracts.
Join us for a wonderfully creative day exploring the beautiful combination of watercolour, pattern and nature-inspired detail.
Using Kate’s own atmospheric abstract landscapes as inspiration, you’ll learn how to create dreamy, expressive landscapes using loose and organic watercolour techniques, before adding layers of decorative pattern, ink and touches of metallic to bring your painting to life.
Kate will guide you through a range of techniques for creating trees, foliage, water and other elements of the natural world, showing you how to build up texture, depth and pattern in your own unique style. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to experiment with colour and composition, choosing your own palette and taking inspiration from the landscape around you as well as Kate’s beautiful portfolio of work.
No two paintings in Kate’s classes are ever the same, so by the end of the day everyone will have created their own atmospheric piece of abstract landscape art to take home and be admired.
This is the perfect workshop for anyone who fancies experimenting with colour, pattern and abstract landscape painting without any pressure or art experience.
Kate will provide all the materials that you need but you are also very welcome to bring your own favourite paints or brushes.
Kate Rebecca Leach is an artist and illustrator based in Hertfordshire. Her original artwork and high quality Giclée prints feature creative watercolour techniques and embellished metallic details. Kate founded her business, Essoldo Design, in August 2020 and has sold pieces to over 35 countries across the globe and has successfully licensed her work in the UK, Europe and the USA. Her bestselling book, Creative Abstract Watercolour, was published in Spring 2024 and is now available in 7 languages, and her second, Creative Abstract Mixed Media was published in October 2025.

At Where Inspiration Blooms, we’re big fans of delicious cake! In this class, you can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee. We have dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference, and our homemade cakes are always sourced from good local bakers. We also make sure those who need gluten-free options aren’t left out. If you have any allergies, please do let us know when you book so we can make sure everyone has a wonderful and worry-free treat.
