Make Your Own Lamp

Saturday 11th July from 12-3.30pm at The Pavilion in Penn Street, Amersham

£145 per person

Join us for this afternoon class where you will not only be designing your own ceramic lamp, but also a gorgeous lampshade! And as if that wasn't enough your lamp base will be fired in a raku kiln...honestly this is going to be fabulous!

We will start this workshops by glazing our premade (by Caroline) lamp bases using special raku glazes. You can decided on what colour glazes to use, but it is also possible to add lots of interest to your piece by blocking out sections with tape and stencils.

Caroline & Andrea will then fire your glazed lamp base in a gas raku kiln, then put them into a reduction bin to complete their firing process. This is fascinating process and you are welcome to watch while we do the raku firing. It really does make you feel like you are on raku week of the Great Pottery Throwdown, as you get to uncover details of the finished lamp base as you clean it up after firing.

While the lamp bases are heating up in the the kiln, Claire will be teaching you how to make your 25cm lampshades ready for final assembly!

Once both components are complete we will wire up our bases and pop on our shade for the final reveal! Imagine carrying home a brand-new lamp that you have literally designed and made yourself in one afternoon.

The photos you see here were all made by our students.

This class is suitable for absolute beginners, as well as more experienced ceramicists.

Where Inspiration Blooms will supply all materials except the fabric for your lampshade.

We recommend this workshop for adults; however, teenagers aged 16 and above are welcome to attend if you wish to enjoy this workshop together, provided they also purchase a place on the workshop too.

For more information or if you have any questions at all please do email us on julesandcaroline@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk

This class will only be able to go ahead if we have a minimum number of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than a week before the class is due to take place and full refunds will be issued.
