Thursday 1st May 2025 10am - 2.30pm @The Pavilion, Penn Street
£85
Suitable for beginners and more experienced gardeners. Everyone will leave with a selection of modules of flower seedlings and cuttings to grow on at home.
If your dream is a garden blooming with beautiful flowers all the year round, and the knowledge to be able to create and maintain it yourself, then this is the perfect class for you.
Where Inspiration Blooms co-founder Caroline Oden, has for many years also run The Hidden Gate Blooms, an independent, artisan flower growing business specialising in British seasonal flowers. She is also an active member of Flower from the Farm, an RHS Chelsea Flower Show award winning co-operative of British cut flower growers.
This one-day course is as packed as we can manage with information and guidance on everything relating to how to grow flowers; from seeds to cuttings, bulbs to compost, bouquets to overwintering and everything in between. Caroline is a brilliantly generous teacher, sharing so much from her many years of experience and offering you the chance continually throughout the day to ask specific questions to ensure that everything you need to know for your own personal projects are fully covered.
If you are in love with dahlias as much as we are then this is definitely the workshop for you, as we will be showing you how to take dahlia cuttings to get the most out of every tuber. We have a huge range of dahlias to choose from this year, as the grey, cold winter resulted in Caroline getting seduced by the glossy catalogues and ordering lots of gorgeous blooms!
You will leave with seeds, a couple of seed trays filled with seedlings and cuttings that will give you an abundance of flowers for your house and garden plus a stunning hand-picked (by you!) seasonal hand-tied bouquet, with flowers picked in the stunning walled gardens on our neighbouring Penn Estate.

We very much look forward to welcoming you up to The Pavilion.
Grow Your Own Cut Flowers - Summer '25
"I have been to a couple of workshops here and the quality of the courses is exceptional. The Grow your own Cut Flowers workshop was simply delightful - Caroline is so generous with her knowledge and with her flowers. I literally came home with a bucket of cut flowers, plus seeds, seedlings, cuttings... And the lunch! Caroline and Jules create a very warm and welcoming atmosphere." Sue, May 2019
"I had a wonderful day last month at the Growing Autumn Cut Flowers workshop with Caroline. She was so welcoming, helpful and generous with her knowledge. It was lovely to see her beautiful flowers that she grows and to learn different techniques such as propagation and flower arranging. We had a delicious lunch and came away with a huge handout of information, seed trays and plug plants and a goodie bag of bulbs for autumn planting! I found it a very inspiring and enjoyable day." Helen, October 2018
"I attended the cut flowers workshop at the end of September. Caroline and Jules were so welcoming to our lovely small group. It was a very fun and fact filled day.....with a great lunch and free flowing cups of tea and coffee. I learnt lots especially about propagating. Along with the hand tied bouquets of flowers we’d chosen and cut from Caroline’s cutting patch we all took home seeds we’d sown, cuttings we’d propagated and sweet little bags of bulbs that Caroline had put into our goodie bags.
Very good value for money. I highly recommend it! Inspiration certainly bloomed! Thank you Caroline and Jules" Caroline (Not me Caroline!), October 2018
