We’re really excited to welcome back a wonderful teacher and friend, who we used to run classes with back in our early days at The Barn.
Kristine de Block, The Crafty Herbalist, is an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced medical herbalist – who very fortunately for us happens to also live locally!
With co-founder of Where Inspiration Blooms (and nature-based seasonal crafter) Jules Cossins, as her eager assistant, we cordially invite you to explore the fascinating world of herbal living and learn how to root your health practices in seasonal, local plants.
Welcome to…
THE FOUR SEASONS OF HERBAL LIVING:
A YEAR WITH THE CRAFTY HERBALIST AT WHERE INSPIRATION BLOOMS
Each season tells its own story - of growth, rest, renewal, and return. Through the year, we invite you to meet the plants that rise, flower, fruit, and fade with the changing light, learning how to work with them in ways that are practical, healing, and deeply rooted in traditional wisdom.
Over the course of 4 x full-day workshops you will learn the core skills of a confident home herbalist - blending hands-on experience with seasonal awareness and local plant knowledge. Each day stands alone, but together they form a circle of learning that follows the natural rhythm of the year, helping you feel more attuned to both the land and your own wellbeing.
A huge thank you to everyone who came to our Spring workshop in April. Confirmed dates for Autumn & Winter will be published by the beginning of May. Do drop Jules an email if you have any questions about these sessions.
SUMMER - The Season of Blossoming
Summer is the season of scent, bloom, and abundance. This full-day workshop brings together the beauty of herbal skincare, the magic of flowers, and the sweetness of nature’s remedies. We’ll explore how to work with blossoms in all their forms - distilling gentle hydrosols, crafting cooling sprays and floral perfumes, and making nourishing creams, oils, and honeys that feed both body and soul. Along the way, we’ll explore the emotional side of plant medicine through flower essences and the subtle art of scent.
You’ll leave carrying jars that smell of sunshine, along with the knowledge and confidence to keep creating your own herbal treasures at home.
We will provide you with everything you need for the day, but we do ask that you bring with you a packed lunch.
About Kristine De Block, BSc Hons (Medical Herbalist)
“I’ve been walking the herbal path for almost five decades now, and it still fills me with the same wonder it did when I first began. I’m a medical herbalist, teacher, and founder of The Crafty Herbalist Academy, where I help others learn the old skills of making, tasting, and understanding plant medicine - and rediscover a sense of belonging through the seasons.
“My roots are in Flanders, where my grandmother first taught me the language of plants. I still remember the stories, the scents, and the home remedies she made from the medicinal plants in her garden. Later, formal study in herbal medicine deepened that love and shaped it into a lifelong practice. Since then, I’ve built a dispensary, taught hundreds of students, and worked with countless patients - but what moves me most is seeing people realise that they can do this too: that herbal medicine isn’t distant or mysterious, but something we can all weave into daily life.
“My teaching blends tradition and science, but at its heart it’s about relationship - with the land, the plants, and ourselves. Whether I’m teaching in my kitchen, my clinic, or under an open sky, my aim is always the same: to pass on what I’ve learned, to keep the old knowledge alive, and to remind people that the plants are still here, waiting for us to notice them and use their gifts.
“I’m a qualified and insured medical herbalist, a full member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, an Ambassador and Corporate Member of the UK Herb Society, and an Advanced Junior Herbalist Club Leader. I’m also a regular contributor to international publications such as Botanical Anthology, and my first book is due to see the light in 2027.”

At Where Inspiration Blooms, we’re big fans of delicious cake! In this class, you can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee, with dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference. Our homemade cakes are always sourced from local bakers, and we make sure those who need gluten-free options aren’t left out, with carefully selected treats safe from cross-contamination — a lesson we’ve learned from Jules’ niece! For our one-day classes, please bring a packed lunch, and our teas, coffees, and sweet treats will be available throughout the day. If you have any allergies, do let us know when you book so we can ensure everyone has a worry-free and enjoyable experience.
Please note that we will only be able to run this class/course if we have a minimum of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than 2 weeks before it is due to start and we will of course, offer you a full refund.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact Jules via her email jules@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk
Thank you so much for booking onto one of our workshops — we’re really looking forward to welcoming you and hope you find your class to be a space where your inspiration can really bloom 😉
