We first ran a workshop with Jen Roffe back in the very earliest days of Where Inspiration Blooms. In fact, it was our very first sell-out class... but then through a number of different factors (not least covid and us having to leave The Barn) any future collaborations fell by the wayside.
Fast forward to November 2024 and you can imagine how excited we were when we bumped into Jen at Peterley Christmas Market... and we began planning to work together again. Our first class with her in many years took place in May and sold out in a couple of days. Jules went along and had a wonderful time, so much so that her final piece is on display at The Pavilion.
In this Autumn Garland workshop you will create your own unique modern calligraphy quote and a beautifully illustrated garland using a set of autumnal metallic brush pens. Perfect for seasonal decor, gifting and some precious time out creating something lovely!
We will begin with the essentials of this modern calligraphy style - starting with beginner brush strokes, practising letters, words and phrases before using what we’ve learnt to create our own beautiful hand lettered art with a decorative autumn quote.
You will be able to choose from 3 example quotes, prepared by Jen, or you are very welcome to letter your own favourite words.
A brush calligraphy starter kit is included in this workshop so you can keep practicing and creating once you get home. Jen is an excellent teacher who very gently guides you step-by-step through everything you need to know.
Jen’s satin metallic brush pens (gold, copper and pink) are included, and yours to take home and use again.
Brush lettering stroke guides, upper and lowercase alphabet templates, hand lettered quote and decorative illustration templates are all included too, and of course hands on instructions and guidance from a very well-known expert in this artform!
Imagine 3 hours of blissful, mindful learning from a really super experienced and wonderful teacher.
If you think you will need lunch please don't forget to bring a packed lunch with you! We will have our usual supply of unlimited hot drinks and some delicious home made cakes (plus vegan, gluten free and dairy-free options) but no amount of cakes will be a substitute for a real lunch so do bring one if you think you may get peckish.
