We are delighted to welcome back Niki Bell, one of our most established and respected local artists. A member of the Buckinghamshire Art Society, Niki brings both experience and warmth to The Pavilion, and we’re thrilled to have her leading this inspiring workshop.
In this one-day immersive watercolour class, you’ll paint a countryside creature that captures your heart. Set within our beautiful Chiltern landscape, it’s easy to find inspiration in the hedgerows and fields all around us. Foxes, deer, hares, rabbits, and pheasants roam freely across the land, offering endless subjects to spark your creativity. Guided by expert tuition, you’ll slow down, observe, and translate the quiet magic of these wild companions into your expressive watercolour painting.
No previous experience is needed—complete beginners are warmly welcomed—while more experienced artists will find plenty of opportunity to refine techniques and develop their own artistic voice.
This is a relaxed yet richly rewarding day, filled with practical skills, thoughtful guidance, and plenty of unhurried painting time in our peaceful Pavilion in Penn Street.
During the workshop, Niki will guide you through:
- Finding strong starting points through simple shapes
- Developing lines to bring character and life to your subject
- Understanding colour, with a gentle introduction to the colour wheel and working with a limited palette
- Applying paint and exploring key watercolour techniques
We’ll pause around 12.30pm for lunch, so please remember to bring a packed lunch with you. As always, you’ll be treated to unlimited hot drinks and a selection of delicious homemade cakes (including vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options).
You’ll leave this day with a vastly expanded confidence in your watercolour painting, lots of tips, tricks and advice and a wonderfully unique painting that you can be really proud of.
We will provide you with all of your materials but if you have watercolour paints and brushes of your own that you would like to use, then do feel free to bring them. Please also bring photos/images of the creature that you are hoping to paint on the day so that you have reference materials to work from. Niki will also have materials if you are in need of inspiration.
At Where Inspiration Blooms, we’re big fans of delicious cake! In this class, you can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee, with dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference. Our homemade cakes are always sourced from local bakers, and we make sure those who need gluten-free options aren’t left out, with carefully selected treats.
For our one-day classes, please bring a packed lunch. If you have any allergies, do let us know when you book so we can ensure everyone has a worry-free and enjoyable experience.
Please note that we will only be able to run this class/course if we have a minimum of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than 2 weeks before it is due to start and we will of course, offer you a full refund.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our email julesandcaroline@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk
Thank you so much for booking onto one of our workshops — we’re really looking forward to welcoming you and hope you find your class to be a space where your inspiration can really bloom 😉
