9.30am to 1.30pm pm on Saturday 23rd May 2026

@The Pavilion, Penn Street near Amersham HP7 0PX

£70 per person

All materials included. Suitable for beginners (but must be able to use a sewing machine).

Step into a wonderfully immersive half-day workshop with local pet portrait and wildlife artist Rosie Midwood, and discover the art of free-motion machine embroidery.

In this brand new workshop which Rosie has created specifically for our community, you will be invited to create a stunning bumble bee design—one of Rosie’s signature illustrations—delicately printed onto fine linen and ready to be brought to life through stitch. Under Rosie’s expert guidance, you’ll learn to use your sewing machine as a creative tool, building texture, depth, and detail with thread as your medium.

This workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with your creativity, and immerse yourself in a really satisfying and mindful process. The Where Inspiration Blooms team have already experienced the class and we all had the BEST time — everyone leaving with a real sense of accomplishment and a beautifully finished piece we were proud to call our own.

Rosie will begin by introducing her process, sharing a curated selection of her work and demonstrating each stage of the technique in a clear and accessible way.

You will then be guided through a series of carefully designed exercises on a practice fabric, allowing you to explore techniques, develop confidence, and experiment with stitch and texture.

Once you are comfortable, you will progress to your final piece—embroidering your bumble bee design with Rosie’s guidance. Your artwork will be completed in an embroidery hoop, ready to take home as a refined and personal piece of textile art.

What to Bring

  • A sewing machine with free-motion embroidery foot
  • Sharp fabric scissors
  • 4 empty bobbins (compatible with your machine)
  • Your glasses if you need them for close work (Jules forgot hers and regretted it at our trial class!)

If you don’t own a sewing machine, please do get in touch—we have a couple of spares so are able to provide one (available on a first come, first served basis).

This workshop is designed for those with basic sewing experience. You will need to be confident in threading your machine and changing threads independently. All of the creative techniques will be taught during the session.

We are really excited to welcome Rosie to our community of expert teachers, having loved sharing her work with you all last year at our Bucks Art Weeks exhibition.  Rosie is a Buckinghamshire-based pet portrait and wildlife artist.  Her creative journey began at the age of twelve, learning to sew on her grandmother’s Singer sewing machine. Raised in a rural environment, her childhood was shaped by a balance of time spent outdoors—surrounded by animals and nature—and quiet, creative days spent developing her artistic skills.

This connection to the countryside remains at the heart of her work. Rosie draws deeply from the beauty of the British landscape, capturing the gentle rhythms of rural life—from woodland walks to the simple joy of growing and gathering from the land. Her work celebrates these understated, meaningful moments, translating them into thoughtful and evocative pieces.

At Where Inspiration Blooms, we’re big fans of delicious cake! In this class, you can enjoy a choice of traditional and herbal teas from Chesham-based tea connoisseurs, Two Spoons, as well as both caffeinated and decaf coffee. We have dairy and non-dairy milks to suit every preference, and our homemade cakes are always sourced from good local bakers. We also make sure those who need gluten-free options aren’t left out.  If you have any allergies, please do let us know when you book so we can make sure everyone has a wonderful and worry-free treat.

Please note that we will only be able to run this class/course if we have a minimum of 5 guests. All of our teachers are highly skilled in their fields, but being an artist isn't always a well paid profession so we hope you understand why it's important that we ensure that our teachers can afford to run each of their classes. Should the class not be able to go ahead we will contact you no less than 2 weeks before it is due to start and we will of course, offer you a full refund.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact us via our email jules@whereinspirationblooms.co.uk

Thank you so much for booking onto one of our workshops — we’re really looking forward to welcoming you and hope you find your class to be a space where your inspiration can really bloom 😉
