Watercolour Wildflowers at Bucks Art Weeks

Friday, 14th June 10am to 12noon

£35 per person.  All materials included.  Suitable for beginners and experienced painters.

We have run this class at The Studio several times and each time it has sold out very quickly so we are really delighted that Jaany has agreed to run it again with us at Bucks Art Weeks...and this time with the option of al fresco if it's a dry day!

What you paint will be up to you, so if you have always wanted to learn how to paint a specific flower or flowers then please do bring your reference materials with you and Jaany will show you how.

Alternatively because this class will be held in our workshop tent at Bucks Art Weeks in the grounds of the beautiful Holy Trinity church in Penn Street, you can wander in the adjacent ancient woodland and see if any of the flora and fauna take your fancy!

Jaany Ravenscroft-Hull is an award winning artist, vastly experienced art teacher and most recently a bit of a TV celeb! (the wild card star of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2022). She is also a really warm, encouraging and very funny teacher who has an expert knowledge of how to get the very best out of her students' creative talents. We first met Jaany at last year's Peterley Christmas Market (we were a teeny bit start struck having watched her progress on TV but soon realised how lovely and down to earth she is) and she went on to become one of our wonderful group of artists at Bucks Art Week exhibiting some of her stunning Norfolk and Irish coastal seascapes.

In this 2 hour class Jaany will be teaching us how to paint flowers using watercolours. We have deliberately kept this class as ‘flowers’ rather than one specific type of flower so that you have the artistic freedom to paint what you want to capture in this beautifully versatile medium.

The class is great for absolute beginners as well as anyone who paints regularly or has previous experience. Jaany will take us through several basic watercolour techniques, how to use various brushes, the kids of paint to use for different results and colour mixing. She will do lots of demonstrating and can help you to capture the detail of your subject in whatever style you choose... traditional or abstract/more stylised. There will also be fine point markers available if you wish to add a different kind of detail to your pieces. This class is a great opportunity to explore your creativity your own way whilst under her expert guidance.
