£195 including wheel to take home for the duration of your course
Our 3-Week Wheel Throwing Course is perfect for anyone who is a complete beginner to working with clay and is interested in learning how to throw their own pots, or anyone who has been working with slab building and is looking to expand their clay skills.
The course costs £195 and not only includes 6 hours of expert tuition from our lovely ceramics teacher Andrea but also a set of tools, a bag of clay and the opportunity to take home a wheel to practise on in between classes. The wheel is literally yours to take home and practice on as much as you like before returning it back to The Studio at the final class.
During your first class your teacher will take you through the basic skills needed to throw on the wheel, such as clay preparation, centring the clay and pulling up a cylindrical shape (a key part of throwing as this is the basis for all wheel thrown ceramic pieces).
In the second lesson we will revisit all of these techniques, in addition to learning how to 'turn' the bottom of your pots.
For the final lesson we refine and grow on your existing throwing skills; addressing any issues that you have encountered and sharing tips on how to overcome them. Your teacher will also share how to make useful additions to your pieces, such as adding handles and lips, to change your pots into mugs or jugs.
Included in the price of this course is also the opportunity to have 6 of the pots you have made during the course clear glazed and fired.
Before you book this class please note the following:
- you will need to come and collect your pieces of work at a later date
- sadly we are not able to post pieces of pottery out
- you will be notified on email approximately 4 weeks after your class to let you know that your work is ready for collection
- Pieces will be kept for 4-weeks from this point. After this time they will be disposed of to make room for other people’s work
These sessions will be held in our Studio in Holmer Green and limited to a maximum of 8 people to ensure that everyone gets the benefit of our teacher's time and expertise.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to The Studio!
