Harvest Flowers - Sketch & Watercolour
Take a moment to slow down, look closely and celebrate the beauty of this harvest season through sketching and watercolour.
Using a lovely little selection of sustainably grown flowers from Victoria at Green Fox Flowers, picked right actually on the land at Oxmoor Farm, you'll spend an hour exploring shape, colour and texture as you create your own botanical studies. Rather than striving for perfection, this workshop is all about observing the flowers in front of you and responding to them in your own unique way.
Guided by experienced art tutor Karen Wyllie, you'll be gently encouraged to work intuitively with pencil and watercolour, discovering how a few simple marks and washes of colour can capture the character and movement of each delicate bloom. Karen's relaxed and supportive teaching style makes this workshop perfect for complete beginners as well as those who simply want to enjoy an hour of mindful creativity.
Working with flowers grown just a few steps from where you'll be sitting adds something really special and unique to the experience. It feels a fitting way to celebrate the Harvest Festival—taking time to appreciate the beauty of the land, the changing seasons and the abundance that surrounds us.
You'll leave with a couple of sketches to remember your day at the festival but also, we hope, a renewed confidence to continue noticing and drawing the details of our beautiful Chiltern hills long after the harvest is in.
