Please note: Cyanotype printing relies on UV light, so this workshop is weather dependent. Light cloud is absolutely fine, but heavy cloud or rain will make it impossible for us to run the session. If the weather isn't suitable, we will unfortunately have to cancel the workshop and a full refund will be issued.
Nature Cyanotype Printing

Discover the magic of cyanotype printing – one of the earliest forms of photographic printing – as we harness the power of the late August sun to create your own striking botanical blueprints.
​
In this relaxed festival taster session, you'll explore the fascinating process of sun printing using a beautiful collection of pressed flowers, grasses, seed heads and other natural treasures inspired by the landscape around Oxmoor Farm. As the sunlight works its magic, delicate silhouettes are transformed into vibrant Prussian blue prints, creating artwork that is really simple but really captivating.

Your tutor is Jules Cossins, co-founder of Where Inspiration Blooms, whose love of cyanotype printing began through a fascination with the plants, flowers and seed heads growing all around us. Jules will guide you through this wonderfully simple process, sharing tips and techniques to help you create your own striking botanical artwork.

After a quick demo by Jules we'll begin by experimenting with a test print to discover how different natural materials, shapes and patterns respond to the light before creating one beautiful finished cyanotype print to take home.

It's a wonderfully mindful process that encourages you to slow down, look more closely at the natural world and celebrate the extraordinary details found in the simplest hedgerow flowers and botanicals at the time of year. It feels a fitting way to honour the spirit of the Harvest Festival – taking inspiration directly from the land to create something beautiful by hand.
