Every Tuesday morning from the 21st April - 19th May 10am - 12pm
£125 per person for 5-week course
This course will be running once during our Summer term during the morning running up to half-term.
Fresh from her invigorating ceramics course in the University of Hertfordshire, Caroline is brimming with new ideas and techniques to share with you this term!
During this 5-week course you will get to try your hand at both slab building and throwing pots on the wheel.
Throughout the first 3 weeks, we will be using slab building techniques to make a plate, a bowl and a vase/plant pot. We will learn how to manipulate the clay, and how to give beautiful finishes to your piece. Using leaves, grasses, lace and stamps, we can create texture and personalised design. Further interest can also be added through the use of coloured slip, sgraffito and score and slip techniques, creating an interesting and completely individual item each week.
During the 4th session, everybody will get the chance to throw a bowl or handleless cup on the wheel. You will be taught how to centre the clay and then mould the clay into the form you wish.
The final week of the course will be devoted to glazing your pieces. We have a wide selection of glazes and underglazes for you to choose from, and you can also bring your own if you have a specific colour you would like to use. Additional interest can be added at this stage using wax resist techniques.
This course is for both beginners and those who have done a bit of ceramic work before, and there will be plenty of 1-to-1 tuition.
