Wednesday 16th September 10am-1pm
We are so excited that local award-winning tutor and artist Jay Nolan-Latchford, has agreed to come back to teach this class with us again, after it sold out so quickly last year.
In this 3 hour workshop you will learn several basic watercolour techniques to create stunning studies of autumnal nature – leaves, trees, conkers, acorns – all can be explored as you relax and enjoy a few hours away from everyday life. In this wonderfully relaxing weekday workshop you will be introduced to all the techniques you need to recreate these autumnal gems. Jay will teach you how to mix colours, use a variety of different brushes and techniques and a combination of watercolour paints and pencils as well as working in the ‘wet on wet’ method.
This workshop is suitable for everyone, including absolute beginners who have never picked up a paint brush (with the choice to trace or draw your outline!). You’ll be guided through the process step by step and also have the opportunity for plenty of 1:1 expert tuition.
The whole ethos of our two weeks of workshops this September is Celebrating Autumn, so this workshop really is at the heart of what we are trying to achieve.
You will be provided with all the materials you need to leave with a beautifully painted snapshots of Autumn treasures.
‘Celebrating Autumn’ Workshops
One of the main challenges that our business has faced this year is being able to run workshops with enough people to make them break even. The necessary extra cleaning and social distancing are significant challenges for Where Inspiration Blooms at The Barn. After trialling a week of workshops in July (our Wellbeing Festival) we have decided, that for the near future, to keep the business going we need to concentrate our workshops into bunches of one or two weeks so that we can hold them in a larger venue where we can have up to 12 people in the room.
Our ‘Celebrating Autumn’ Workshops will run from Friday, 11th September until Saturday 26th at Chartridge Lodge Hotel and Conference Centre (next-door to The Barn).
Autumn is such a beautiful time of year, and we want to celebrate its stunning colours and natural changes through our wonderful community of teachers and tutors. After all the stresses of 2020 so far, we hope that in our selection of workshops you will find something that you will really enjoy and that will give you some joy in these uncertain times.
Safety & Security
During these times of social distancing please rest assured that we are taking all the recommended steps to ensure maximum safety. Our indoors Autumn Workshops will be taking place in a very large conference room inside our next-door neighbours main building at Chartridge Lodge Hotel.
The room is huge, has high ceilings, plenty of windows and will allow us to set up tables 2 metres apart from each other. We know the government guidelines have reduced the 2 metre rule but it is so important to us that everyone feels safe and comfortable, especially with our workshops being all about inspiring people to do things to enhance and support their wellbeing. We strongly believe that maintaining the 2-metre distance is the right thing to do. We will also be putting in place many other safety measures.
We will be asking all of our guests to come into the building wearing masks, which they can remove once they are inside the room and we will be providing hand sanitisers on each work station and when you enter the building. A full list of all the bits we are doing will be sent out to you on an email a couple of days before the workshop.
